The Jets will want to begin the new season in the right way after slipping 7-10 last year after losing star quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

Rodgers sustained an injury that ended his season mere moments into his Jets debut, and while they went on to beat Buffalo in that clash, this was a high point in a season that failed to ever really take off.

They slipped to defeats in three of their next six before embarking on a five-game losing streak as their playoff hopes evaporated in front of their eyes.

The Jets did end the season on a high, avenging a Week Three loss to division rivals New England with a 17-3 victory away from home.

The 49ers were the team to beat in the opening few weeks as they stormed to a five-game winning run. However, October was a lean month for them as they lost three successive matches.

Their 34-3 win over Jacksonville proved to be a turning point in their season as they embarked on a seven-game winning run which ultimately saw them go 12-5 and move into the playoffs.

With homefield advantage in the playoffs, the 49ers beat Green Bay and Detroit as they eased into the showpiece event in 2024.

With a shot at avenging their 2019 Super Bowl defeat to the Chiefs, many pinned the 49ers as the side to back. However, they were stunned once again as they sunk to a 25-22 loss in overtime.

San Francisco are a leading contender to win the Super Bowl with a supremely well-rounded side.

Meanwhile, the Jets are at the other end of the spectrum. Even with Aaron Rodgers back in the frame, we expect the 49ers to secure the win in the first Monday Night Football outing of the season.
