Olympiacos vs Monaco Preview

In Round 32 of the EuroLeague, table-topping Olympiacos face a tough challenge at home against fourth-placed Monaco.

Can the shaken Reds hold their ground and secure the top seed, or will Monaco storm into Piraeus and shake up the standings with a statement win?

Olympiacos Form & Team News

After two unexpected defeats in a row, Olympiacos suddenly find themselves in a precarious position, with their top spot under serious threat—something that seemed almost unthinkable just weeks ago.

The home loss to Crvena Zvezda proved to be no fluke, exposing a deep slump in form. On Tuesday, in the first of this week’s EuroLeague double-header, they suffered another setback, falling 81-70 on the road against Asvel.

Beyond the loss itself, what will likely concern coach Bartzokas even more is his team’s lack of offensive creativity. While injuries have played a role, the dip in form of several key players is equally troubling.

A staggering stat from that game: Sasha Vezenkov and Evan Fournier combined for 50 of the team’s 70 points, while no other player managed more than five.

The only silver lining for Olympiacos was the return of Moses Wright to the court after a three-month absence.

Monaco Form & Team News

Monaco managed to survive a tough battle against a resilient Žalgiris on Tuesday, securing a crucial victory that kept them in fourth place for now.

While their form has been dipping, the most important thing at the end of the day is that they got the job done. For most of the game, the visitors were the better team, even holding a 15-point lead at one stage.

However, Monaco relied on the individual brilliance of Mike James to force overtime, where they completely broke their opponent’s resistance.

James finished the game with 22 points, delivering in clutch moments. Elie Okobo was just as impressive with 21, while Jaron Blossomgame dominated with a double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds. Daniel Theis also came close to a double-double, finishing with 16 points and 9 rebounds.

Up next, Monaco host Panathinaikos before wrapping up the regular season with a road game against Asvel.

Head to Head

Three seasons ago, these two clubs battled in a thrilling playoff series, with Olympiacos emerging victorious after a hard-fought five-game showdown.

Verdict

This game will reveal whether Olympiacos' last two defeats were merely a result of poor form and fatigue or if a deeper issue is at play.

Despite dealing with numerous injuries, Olympiacos have a deep enough roster to bounce back in moments like this. It’s time for them to make a statement with a commanding performance and a crucial victory.
