Partizan vs Anadolu Efes Preview

One of the potentially most exciting matchups of EuroLeague Round 30 will take place at Belgrade Arena, where Partizan will host Anadolu Efes.

The winner will take a big step toward securing a Top 10 spot, while the loser will be left in a difficult position.

Partizan Form & Team News

After losing to Olympiacos in Piraeus, Partizan suffered another EuroLeague defeat last round, falling to Barcelona on the road and missing a big chance to take a step closer to the playoffs.

Now, they face a must-win clash against two-time EuroLeague champions Anadolu Efes–a game many Partizan fans see as "do or die." And they’re not wrong.

A victory would be twice as valuable, not only because it’s against a direct rival with the same 15-14 record but also due to the potential impact of point difference in tiebreaker scenarios.

Head coach Zeljko Obradovic said his team played well against Barcelona, aside from the second quarter, which they lost 29-9–a fair assessment.

However, some doubts have emerged among Partizan supporters after a surprising 80-72 loss to Dubai in the ABA League, though many attribute it to a packed schedule and fatigue.

Still, there can be no excuses on Friday.

Anadolu Efes Form & Team News

Easily the most unpredictable team in this season's EuroLeague.

Despite having a fantastic roster with two quality players at every position, Efes have struggled to find consistency throughout the season. That’s why, with five rounds remaining in the regular season, they find themselves in a position where their Top 10 spot is still uncertain—though they still control their own destiny.

A three-game winning streak has brought them to the verge of the Top 10, but more importantly, their performances in recent weeks have looked much smoother and more cohesive.

They secured a huge win last week on the road against Bayern, a team that had lost just twice at home before that matchup. Efes once again showed plenty of ups and downs in that game, but they managed to stay composed and get the victory—largely thanks to Shane Larkin’s best performance of the season with 25 points, along with Rodrigue Beaubois, who added 23.

Beaubois missed the last domestic league game due to injury, but he is expected to be available in Belgrade.

Head to Head

Anadolu Efes won the first head-to-head matchup of the season after an outstanding second-half performance, scoring 53 points. Ercan Osmani was the standout player in that game, finishing with 25 points.

Verdict

Partizan have looked somewhat tense on their home court this season, as evidenced by their six losses. It seems like the players struggle to channel the massive support from the stands in a positive way, often turning it into pressure instead.

Efes, on the other hand, are an experienced and high-quality team, and I expect them to at least keep the game close until the very end.
