Brighton vs Nottingham Forest Preview & Tips

Brighton secured an excellent 2-1 win over Newcastle in the last round of the FA Cup earlier in March as they moved to within two wins of a final at Wembley.

Nottingham Forest eliminated Ipswich in the last round as they edged closer to an unlikely trophy this season.

  • Brighton have beaten Chelsea and Newcastle 2-1 in their last two FA Cup outings
  • Nottingham Forest have seen both teams score in their last two FA Cup games

Head To Head

Brighton have won five of their last 10 against Forest, with the latter winning three times and two games ending as draws.

Brighton Form

Brighton arrive for this match on the back of an impressive seven-game unbeaten run in all competitions, with the side moving into the final portion of the season in good form.

This run was started by a stunning 7-0 demolition at the hands of their next opponents in the league. Since then, they have beaten Chelsea twice along with downing Southampton, Bournemouth, Newcastle and Fulham, while they held Manchester City in a 2-2 draw at the Etihad Stadium before the international break.

This is the perfect chance for Brighton to make amends for their humiliating 7-0 loss to Forest last time out. While I do not back them to a keep a clean sheet after seeing both teams score in their last four in all competitions, I am backing home advantage to count as they move into the last-four.

Nottingham Forest Form

Nottingham Forest have been enjoying a stunning run of form this season, with the side currently sitting in third in the Premier League, while they return to club action in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.

The real issue for Forest will now be on which competition they look to prioritise. Three wins will see them lift the FA Cup, but they are in with a chance of securing a Champions League place next season, meaning they will be rubbing shoulders with Europe's elite.

While I believe Forest will look to battle on both fronts, I believe that their hopes will end up pinned on a top-four finish. Brighton have been brilliant of late, and while I back Forest to breach their defence, I believe they will be eliminated in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.

Verdict

I am backing Brighton to secure the win in this one despite failing to keep a clean sheet. Their wins over Chelsea and Newcastle in the last two rounds of the competition will stand them in good shape as they take on a third successive Premier League opponent.
