Chelsea secured an unconvincing 1-0 win over relegation-threatened Leicester in their last game as they made it two consecutive wins in the league.
- Arsenal have won their last three home games against the Blues
- Arsenal have seen both teams score in their last three in all competitions
- Three of the last four meetings between the sides have seen both sides score
Head To Head
Arsenal have won six of their last 10 against Chelsea. Meanwhile, the Blues have won twice, with the other two ending as draws.
Arsenal Form
Despite scoring nine goals across two-legs against PSV in the Champions League, Arsenal have been goal-shy in the league, failing to score in two of their last three matches.
Their struggles in front of goal has seen the Gunners take two points from a possible nine, with this seeing them slip 15 points behind Liverpool at the summit. The title race is likely already over, but the Gunners will want to keep fighting until it is mathematically impossible for them to catch the leaders.
Their opponents will want nothing more than to take all three points from the Gunners, and I believe this will spur the home side on. Chelsea have been poor at the back this season, and while Arsenal have had issues up-front in recent league games, I back them to add to their 27 goals in 13 home games this season.
Chelsea Form
Chelsea's season may yet end positively, with the Blues battling for a top-four spot in the league and for the Europa Conference League title. While they have been under constant pressure across their campaign, there are positives to take from the current season.
Heading into their clash with Arsenal, they boast two league wins. However, both victories need to be taken with a pinch of salt. The Blues have won twice at home against 20th-placed Southampton and 19th-placed Leicester. All Chelsea can do is beat the sides in front of them, which they did, but their win over the Foxes was far from impressive.
Worrying for Chelsea is the fact they have lost five times on the road this season, with three of these defeats coming in their last three outings. To make matters worse, the Blues have lost their last three away games against the Gunners. While I back the Blues to score, their leaky defence is likely to let them down once again.
Verdict
I am backing Arsenal to secure a big win in this match as the pair serve up an entertaining contest in which both goalkeepers concede.
