- Newcastle were hammered 4-0 by City in their last away game
- Mohamed Salah has scored and assisted in his last two outings
Head To Head
Liverpool have won seven of their last 10 against Newcastle, with the other three ending as draws.
Liverpool Form
Liverpool bounced back from their 2-2 draw with Aston Villa in midweek with a brilliant 2-0 win over Manchester City that further underlined their title-winning credentials.
This victory, coupled with Arsenal's 1-0 loss to West Ham at the Emirates, means the Reds sit 11 points clear at the top of the table. With sides below them dropping points in crucial matches, Liverpool have managed to maneuver their tough run fairly well.
Mohamed Salah has been central to Liverpool's success this season, and he has now scored in his last eight consecutive matches in all competitions. Impressively, Salah has also notched an assist in four of his last five as he proves he is not just about goals. Against a side that has conceded three or more goals in their last two matches, I am backing Salah to have a big say on this match.
Newcastle Form
Newcastle may have secured all three points against Nottingham Forest in their last match, but their 4-3 win was far from convincing.
The Magpies came back from 1-0 down to lead 4-3 at half-time as an 11-minute salvo saw the points almost-certainly staying with the home side. However, they were awful in the second-half as they struggled to keep possession and put any pressure on a Forest side that could have taken a point from the game before eventually falling to a 4-3 defeat.
Defensively, Newcastle have not been at the races of late, conceding seven goals in their last two matches. Against the best attacking side in the league, I am backing the Magpies to really struggle.
Verdict
I am backing the Reds to ease to victory in this one as they continue to march towards the Premier League title. I also believe that Mohamed Salah will once again hit the back of the net for his side, while I am also backing him to pick up an assist for the fifth time in his last six matches.
