Gwangju notched a 1-0 win over bottom-side Jeonbuk in their last match as they also secured a third win on the bounce.

Gangwon have won two of their last 10 against their opponents, with Gwangju winning four times and the other four ending as draws.

Gangwon's bid to top the standings was given a shot in the arm last week as they beat Gimcheon Sangmu 2-1 to leapfrog their opponents in the table.

This triumph means they now lead last week's beaten opponents by a point after 26 matches played. A trio of home wins has ensured they come into their latest match in fine form.

While Gwangju will provide a real test of their title credentials, Gangwon will feel they should have too much for the travelling side this weekend.

Gwangju have shot up the table in recent weeks, with nine points from their last three matches allowing them to go from 28 points to 37 points. This has left them in seventh in the standings, two points behind Seoul in sixth.

With the Championship Round within reach, Gwangju know that they cannot allow the intensity to drop now or they will likely slip down the table. Three wins in their last three away matches shows they are strong right now, but they face the best team in the competition this weekend.

While I do back Gwangju to keep Gangwon within reach on the scoreline, I do not believe they have what it takes to defeat the league leaders.
