Aston Villa enjoyed a late-surge in their first-leg against Club Brugge as they secured an impressive 3-1 win over their opponents.

- Aston Villa Form
- Club Brugge Form
Club Brugge need to find a way to bounce back quickly as they head to Villa Park to face their opponents once again.
- Villa have won their last two European games
- Club Brugge have lost two of their last four away games in Europe
- Marco Asensio has scored in three of his last four appearances for Villa
Head To Head
The pair have only met twice, with both sides winning once each.
Aston Villa Form
Aston Villa had to ride their luck in the first-leg against Club Brugge, with the Premier League side seeing a huge amount of pressure fall on their goal after seeing their lead disappear early in the game.
While Club Brugge were good value for another goal, Villa put their ability to stay in a match and catch a team sleeping on full show. A 2-1 lead heading into the second-leg would have been a good result, but Marco Asensio was able to put the cherry on top as he scored with a late penalty to make it 3-1.
While the tie is far from over, Villa will be incredibly confident heading into the return. Club Brugge will likely have their moments, but I predict that Villa will find a way to win the second-leg as Asensio continues his impressive run of scoring in three of his last four outings.
Club Brugge Form
Club Brugge saw their hopes of making it into the Champions League quarter-finals fall apart in the latter-stages of their clash with Villa as they conceded two late goals.
While the home side enjoyed more possession and total shots, they could only hit the target with three of their 11 attempts. By comparison, Villa took seven shots, with four hitting the target, while they scored three goals.
The travelling outfit can draw on already beating Villa in the group-stage of the competition, but I predict that they will have to return home after being eliminated from Europe's elite competition.
Verdict
I am backing Aston Villa to continue their Champions League fairytale as they complete the job against Club Brugge courtesy of another Asensio goal.
