Atletico Madrid made it two consecutive disappointments heading into their must-win midweek clash with a pair of 2-1 defeats to Real Madrid and Getafe.

On a more positive note for Atletico, both defeats have come on the road, with the side unbeaten in their last 12 at home this season, with this featuring 10 wins. The home side have been excellent in front of their own fans, and it will take something special to end this unbeaten run.

With a major chance to end Real's Champions League defence, Atletico are my pick to secure the win in this one. Matches between the pair have been incredibly tight for years, and the game is quite often decided by a single goal or one sole moment. With their home fans behind them, I am backing Atleti to build on their 2-1 loss last week as they secure a massive victory.

Real Madrid Form

Real Madrid arrive for their Champions League second-leg clash on the back of two successive wins, although both have come at home.

Their 2-1 victory in the first-leg was vital heading into the away-leg of the tie, but they were not able to build a comfortable lead ahead of what will likely prove to be an incredibly feisty affair. The last time Real took to the road, they were beaten by Real Betis. Meanwhile, they have only won one of their last three on the road, drawing once and losing once.

A draw in this one would be enough to see Real through, but things are rarely simple against Atletico. While I back Kylian Mbappe to extend his impressive scoring run, I do not believe he will end the match on the correct side of the scoreline.

I am backing Atletico to bounce back from their defeat to Real last week by securing the win at home. I also back Mbappe to get another goal in a losing effort for this side.
