Barcelona vs Benfica Preview & Tips
Barcelona were excellent in the first-leg of their clash with Benfica as they secured a battling 1-0 win over their opponents.

- Head To Head
- Barcelona Form
- Benfica Form
Benfica needed to take a positive result to Spain, but they were beaten in the first-leg of their clash, with the Portuguese side now having it all to do.
- Barcelona have won seven of their last eight in the Champions League
- Robert Lewandowski has scored in two of his last three matches in all competitions
- Benfica are winless in their last two European matches (L1, D1)
Head To Head
Barcelona have won five of their last 10 against Benfica, with the latter winning once and the other four ending as draws.
Barcelona Form
Barcelona managed to defeat Benfica in their first-leg clash despite going down to 10-men and seeing 26 shots come at their goal. Raphinha was the hero with his 61st minute goal as Barcelona showcased their ability to dig in and grind out a result.
Barcelona will now target notching their eighth win in their last nine in Europe, with the side proving to be full deserving of their place as one of the favourites to win the competition.
Robert Lewandowski continues to impress up-front for Barca, and he will likely see more chances fall his way if the home side can keep all 11 players on the pitch. I am backing the striker to find a way to hit the back of the net as he leads his side to the win.
Benfica Form
Benfica spurned a massive opportunity to head into the second-leg against Barcelona with a lead as they failed to break their stubborn opponents down.
While playing against a team that has seen red is rarely easy, the fact Barcelona played 70 minutes with a player less should have resulted in the home side breaching their defence. As it was, Benfica conceded in the second-half and could not find a way to restore parity, let alone find the lead.
Heading into this one, I predict that the travelling side will really struggle. Barcelona have been brilliant in Europe this season, winning all four of their home matches so far. Unfortunately for the travelling side, I predict that this will be their final Champions League match this season.
Verdict
I am backing Robert Lewandowski to find the back of the net once again as Barcelona move into the quarter-finals with another win.
