- Liverpool Form
Liverpool beat Newcastle 2-0 at the end of February, with their win over the Magpies ensuring they arrive for this one on the back of a two-game winning run.
- PSG have seen three goals or more scored in their last four in all competitions
- Liverpool have seen over 2.5 goals scored in their last two Champions League matches
- Mohamed Salah has scored in eight of his last nine in all competitions
Head To Head
The pair have met twice before, with both sides winning one contest each.
PSG Form
PSG were in fine scoring form in their Champions League playoff against Brest, beating their opponents 10-0 on aggregate. In a complete mismatch on the pitch, PSG put their ability to score goals on full show, and I expect to see more of the same in this one.
The Ligue 1 champions have now seen five or more goals scored in their last four in all competitions, while they arrive having scored in all of their last 20 matches in all competitions.
With a second-leg at Anfield to come, PSG will know the importance of ensuring they take something from this match. The Reds are a quality side, but if PSG have serious aspirations of winning the Champions League, they need to put in a big performance in the first-leg on Wednesday.
Liverpool Form
Liverpool come into their Round of 16 clash as one of the favourites to win the competition, although they have drifted slightly after being drawn against PSG in the current round.
The Reds won seven of their eight in the group-stage of the competition, with their defeat to PSV coming after Liverpool had already secured their place in the Round of 16. Liverpool should be well-rested coming into this clash as they were not involved in FA Cup action at the weekend, meaning they have not played since February 26.
Mohamed Salah will come into this one raring to go, with the forward scoring in eight of his last nine. Not just content with scoring, Salah has assisted a teammate in his last three and in five of his last six. I expect him to make his mark on a tie full of goals.
Verdict
I am backing this one to see two attacking sides share over 3.5 goals as Mohamed Salah continues his fine scoring run.
