Japan have been in sparkling form in the current stage of World Cup qualifying, securing three consecutive wins to move five-points clear at the top of Group C.

Australia finally secured their fist win in World Cup qualifying in their last outing as they beat China 3-1 in front of their own fans.

In the last 10 meetings between the two nations, Japan have secured seven wins, while there have been three draws.

Japan have excelled in World Cup qualifying, moving to the top of Group C following three consecutive wins.

The home side have secured clean sheets in their last seven games, with this coinciding with a stunning run of seven victories on the bounce. With the exception of North Korea back in March, no side had come within a goal of Japan, while the nation have scored five goals or more in four of their last five.

While I do not expect this one to end in a real hammering for the Aussies, I do predict that Japan will prove they have too much for the travelling side.

Australia Form

Australia finally got their World Cup qualifying campaign up and running with a win in their last match against China.

The three points were the only things that mattered in their last game, but worrying signs remain, with the Socceroos actually going a goal down against a Chinese side that had lost their opening two matches, conceding nine times across these games.

While the Socceroos are a side with a number of quality players in their ranks, they will struggle against Japan this week. Their hosts look rock solid in defence, while their incisive attack has already accounted for a number of opponents.
