New Zealand are the reigning champions in the Rugby Championship, and they will want to begin the defence of their title with a win against Argentina this week.

Argentina humbled Uruguay 79-5 in their last match as they secured a stunning win over their opponents in July.

New Zealand have won eight of their last 10 against Argentina, with the latter winning twice in this time.

New Zealand have continued to build following their heartbreaking Rugby World Cup final loss to South Africa late last year, with three wins coming from Scott Robertson's first three games as coach.

A 16-15 win over England was followed by a 24-17 triumph over the same opponents the following week. They then hammered Fiji 47-5 to put their try-scoring ability on full show in a game that showcased some stunning moves.

New Zealand will likely face a test that ranks somewhere between their arm-wrestle with England and the free running win they enjoyed over Fiji. Argentina will look to keep things tight as they try to challenge New Zealand at the set-piece, but I predict that the All Blacks will have far too much for the travelling side.

Argentina have managed to win two of their three matches in 2024, with one win over France coming alongside a stunning victory over Uruguay.

While their win over Uruguay was one many saw coming, their margin of victory was very impressive, and they will target this as an ideal time to face New Zealand considering they are still trying to truly hit top gear under Scott Robertson.

However, while the Pumas will believe anything can happen in this one, there is a good mix of youth and experience in this All Blacks side, and it will likely prove too much for Argentina. While I do not predict an annihilation, I believe that New Zealand will gain control of the set piece, with this giving them a platform to set their willing runners free on the flanks.
