The pair have met twice before, with each player securing one win each. Their last meeting came back in June, with Sabalenka romping to a 6-2 6-3 win at the French Open.

Emma Navarro has been excellent at the 2024 US Open, easing to the semi-finals on the back of two emphatic wins, two victories in three sets and one battling triumph in the quarter-finals.

Her 6-2 7-5 win over Paula Badosa in the last round saw Navarro romp to the first set before she was made to sweat on a 7-5 triumph in the second. This match encapsulated her campaign so far, with the opening set seeing her cruise to success before the second set ended in a real fight.

While Navarro has excelled at the US Open, I predict that she will have to remain content with a run to the US Open semi-final. Sabalenka has been excellent of late, and she showed she has what it takes to defeat Navarro after beating her 2-0 in their last clash.

Aryna Sabalenka secured one of the results of the tournament so far as she hammered Qinwen Zheng 6-1 6-2 in a consummate performance.

This was her fourth straight-sets win in her last five matches, with her opponents failing to win more than six games in any of those straight-set wins.

With 44 wins in 55 outings in 2024, I am backing Sabalenka to make it two consecutive wins over Navarro as she moves into another Grand Slam final.
